Yes — cooked chickpeas are a safe, protein-rich food parrots love. Cook them fully; don't feed raw dry chickpeas.
Keeper's noteCook plain and offer whole or mashed into chop. Skip hummus — it's loaded with salt, garlic, and oil.
Why chickpeas is good for parrots
Cooked chickpeas (garbanzo beans) are an excellent plant protein with fiber and minerals, and their firm texture appeals to many birds. Like all legumes they must be cooked thoroughly (or sprouted) — raw dry chickpeas are hard and contain the same anti-nutrients as other dry beans.
How to serve it
Cook thoroughly, plain; serve whole or in chop.
Or sprout them as a fresh alternative.
Never hummus (garlic + salt + oil) or canned-in-brine.
